Research overview: Power Singh Inc., on behalf of Media Monitoring Africa, prepared a discussion document which unpacks recent developments and key issues relating to children, the media, and the law. The discussion document seeks to assist the media and other stakeholders to understand the scope of children’s rights by setting out the legal positions that inform how children are reported on in the media, with a particular focus on the issue of identifying children in the media. The discussion document provides a rights analysis, a discussion on recent case law, and highlights key considerations and points for debate.
