South Africa: Survey on violence experienced by older women for submission to the United Nations
Power Law Africa is supporting Moxii Africa (formerly Media Monitoring Africa), with a submission to the United Nations Special Rapporteur (UNSR) on violence against women and girls.
The UNSR is preparing a report to the 81st United Nations General Assembly on the forms and manifestations of violence against older women, including where that status intersects with other grounds.
To develop the submission, Moxii Africa has prepared two brief anonymous surveys, which should not take more than 5 minutes to complete:
- For older women: Understanding safety, respect, and well-being in later life; and
- For organisations and experts: Perspectives on gender-based violence, ageing, human rights, health, social protection, and justice.
Survey contributions will help strengthen the submission, which seeks to promote law reform and ensure the development of necessary safeguards to protect older women from harm.
Please complete the survey by 8 April 2026.
