Securing a protection order against online and offline harms
Power & Associates recently assisted a Complainant with securing a final protection order in terms of the Protection from Harassment Act 17 of 2011.
The complaint originated from a series of harassing “tweets” on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and attempts by the Respondent to harass the Complainant in person.
In terms of the final protection order, the Respondent is now prohibited for a five-year period from harassing the Complaint both on- and offline.
The matter was argued by Tina Power and Christy Chitengu from Power & Associates.
