Call for comment: Shortlisted candidates for the Office of the Information Regulator
The Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services have called for comment on the five shortlisted candidates to fill the vacancy that exists at the Information Regulator. The shortlisted candidates are as follows:
The Office of the Information Regulator is established in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). According to POPIA, the members of the Information Regulator must be appropriately qualified, fit and proper persons. Furthermore, at least one member must be appointed on account of experience as a practising advocate or attorney or professor of law at a university, with the remaining members being appointed on account of any other qualifications, expertise and experience relating to the objectives of the Information Regulator.
Comments on the shortlisted candidates should be emailed to Mr V. Ramaano at [email protected], by no later than 16h00 on 4 September 2020.
