Submission Overview: Power Singh Inc., on behalf of Media Monitoring Africa, prepared a submission to the Portfolio Committee on Social Development on the Children’s Amendment Bill. The Bill, among other aspects, seeks to provide for children’s right to privacy and the protection of their personal information. Three main submissions were made: (i) it is necessary to appreciate the nuances pertaining to children’s privacy rights both on- and offline; (ii) the various facets of children’s rights should be distinguished; and (iii) children’s participatory rights are central to the advancement of their privacy rights.
