South Africa: Welcoming Sophie Smit as an Associate Designate
We’re delighted to announce that Sophie Smit has been retained as an Associate Designate for Power Law Africa in our Johannesburg office, having successfully completed her practical vocational training with our firm for 2025-2026.
Sophie holds a B.A. and LL.B. degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, as well as an LL.M. in Human Rights, Advocacy and Litigation. She has worked across a wide range of issues, including gender-based violence, media viability, migration, and constitutional and administrative law.
Going forward, Sophie will work primarily in our Equality, Inclusion & Child Law, Constitutional & Administrative Law, and AI, Information Rights & Media Law practices. She has separately been appointed as an Associate at ALT Advisory, our partner organisation.
Sophie is presently awaiting her admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
